Prof. Joseph Chan awarded the Changjiang Chair Professorship by the Ministry of Education in the PRC for three years

In 2005/06, Prof. Joseph Chan was awarded the Changjiang Chair Professorship by the Ministry of Education in the PRC for three years. The professorship aims to recognize achieved scholars on the one hand and to promote the development of an academic discipline in China on the other. Prof. Chan marks the first time that a scholar in journalism and communication has ever received the prestigious Changjiang award. From 2006 to 2008, Prof. Chan spent each summer in Fudan University, giving seminars, co-supervising graduate students and post-doctoral students, conducting research and engaging in various exchange activities. During the regular term time, Prof. Chan continued to perform his duties in the University. His professorship provided an opportunity for the School to foster scholarly links with various tertiary institutions in China in general and Fudan University in particular.
